Våra insatser

Making “Srebrenica – Map of Genocide” – in cooperation with Youth Initiative for Human Rights

Together with Youth Initiative for Human Rights we attempt to increase the awareness about this crime of genocide among the general public of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia and also to foster conditions for further dealing with the recent past in the region of the former Yugoslavia. We do so by making “Srebrenica – Map of Genocide”, together with Youth Initiative for Human Rights and the author Suada Kapic.

Combating hate speech – in cooperation with Media Centar

Hate speech is present in all areas of public life in Bosnia and Herzegovina and knowledge on what constitutes hate speech is limited among media, academics and civil society. The use of hate speech can have very negative consequences in the society still tormented by the heritage of war and aggression.

Fighting for the rights of LGBT people – in cooperation with Organisation Q

As a follow-up to the Queer Sarajevo Festival that was organised in 2008 but had to be terminated for security reasons, in 2009 Q decided to organise the Queer Sarajevo Festival as a media campaign in cooperation with Civil Rights Defenders and others.  The campaign aimed to endorse the message that human rights, freedom and equality apply for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, irrespective of sexual orientation.

Improving self regulation in print media – in cooperation with BH Press Council

Our cooperation with Press Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina is all about a continuous improvement of self regulation in print media.  Our efforts are aimed at enhancing the ethical standards and the usage of the two defamation laws, in order to reduce the number of media outlets and journalists charged for compensation damages in defamation trials.

Carrying out strategic litigation – in cooperation with Helsinki Committee in Republika Srpska

For the last five years our cooperation with Helsinki Committee in Republika Srpska has been focused on strategic litigation. We are also providing basic operational support to the organisation as the Helsinki Committee presently is going through the most difficult period since its establishment.

Providing a media help line – in cooperation with BH Journalist Association

A free media help line is envisaged to provide legal aid and counsel to media practitioners whose rights are violated or endangered. In addition, our cooperation with BH Journalist Association aims to improve the knowledge on skilful and ethical reporting of journalists in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and thereby promote the highest professional standards in journalism.

Monitoring trials – in cooperation with Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Through our partnership with the Helsinki Committee we monitor and report on fair trial standards in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the last couple of years we have also worked intensively on lobbying for an all inclusive Law against discrimination, in addition to the regular long-term activities of providing free legal aid to victims of human rights violations.
