    Four awards at Cannes Lions

    Civil Rights Defenders has been awarded a Bronze Lion in the Promo & Activation category and a Silver Lion in the Mobile category for the Natalia Project and also a Silver and a Bronze Lion in the PR category for the Civil Rights Captcha. “This strengthens our work for human rights defenders at risk. I can not find words to describe how happy and proud I am”, says Executive Director Robert Hårdh.

    Unprecedented crackdown on the freedom of expression

    Russian State Duma has passed amendments to the article in Russia’s Criminal Code on “obstruction of the right to freedom of conscience and religion”. This is part of the range of legislative initiatives that impose harsh restrictions on the freedom of expression and came as a consequence of last year’s conviction of Pussy Riots who protested in Moscow’s main Orthodox cathedral.
