2009-11-02: Fourth report about human rights in Belarus

In the fourth report about the human rights situation in Belarus, Belarusian and international organisations urge the EU to prolong the temporary cancelation of sanctions in order to achieve permanent changes. Civil Rights Defenders is one of more than 50 organisations that stand behind the report.

The fina version of the report describes the human rights situation during EU:s period of dialogue with Belarus. Civil Rights Defenders and the other organisations hope that the report will be taken into consideration by the EU when the union decides about the future of the sanctions.

The report covers the period March through October 2009 and aims to inform decisionmakers and other stakeholders about the developments in Belarus, in areas such as freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and association.
