Enabling Roma Communities to Access Basic Human Rights

The main objective of our cooperation with the organisation ARKA is to register, and provide identification documents, to around 150 Roma individuals in Kumanovo. The registration will give them access to basic human rights; such as the right to education, health care, social allowances, as well as the possibility to get a legal employment and the right to vote in general elections.

Furthermore we will work towards raising awareness of the importance of registering and obtaining personal documentaion epsecially amongst pregnant women and parents with children about to begin school. In 2010 we will be working closely with ARKA to identify future needs when it comes to Roma in Kumanovo.

ARKA promotes and protects the rights of Roma and other ethnic minority groups as well as promote multi-ethnic relationships. We have been cooperating with ARKA since 2006.
