Monitoring Trials on Corruption With MANS

The aim of our cooperation with MANS in 2010 is to monitor and report on trials regarding corruption and organized crime. We do this to investigate how effective the proclaimed fight against corruption is.

The Montenegrin government and the European Commission identified the fight against corruption and the reform of the judiciary as two key priorities during Montenegro’s road towards a membership in the EU. However, there is a lack of trial monitoring related to corruption and organised crime.

Through 5 local offices in all the targeted municipalities, MANS provides basic legal assistance to citizens in requesting information and complaining to supervisory institutions. The office in Podgorica assists citizens in appealing to the Administrative and the Supreme Court and helps citizens submitting applications to the Ombudsman.

MANS is well-known in Montenegro and the region for its activities related to the fight against corruption and issues related to local self-government.
