Serbia convicted by European Court
Between 2001 and 2007 Zivota Milanovic from Jagodina, Seriba, member of Hindu Vaishnava religious community, was attacked five times because of his religious beliefs. We have, together with Youth Intitative for Human Rights in Serbia, been working actively on the case by filing criminal complaints of the attack, contacted the President of Serbia, the ministries of justice and interior and the General Inspectorate without any results. Therefore the ruling rendered by the European Court of Human Rights that state bodies of the Republic of Serbia violated the right not to be subjected to torture or inhuman or degrading treatment and the right to protection against discrimination according the European Convention on Human Rights is welcomed.
