Stimulating the debate on transitional issues

We continue our long-term cooperation with the team behind the radio show Pescanik (hourglass) in order to help stimulate the public debate on vital human rights issues in the Serbian society. Pescanik has around 400.000 listeners each week. The show attracts civil and political activists, experts, artists and ordinary citizens who speak about issues such as; discrimination, transitional justice, corruption, lustration, the judiciary, violence, and many more topics related to civil and political rights.

In order to reach an even broader audience the Pescanik team also publishes transcripts of the programs assembled in quarterly publications, they work on video production and have developed a web portal. They regularly travel around Serbia to meet the audience outside of the big cities. For the past three years they have presented the publications in 40 Serbian cities, in front of ten thousand people.

The topics that are brought up in the shows are, however, seen as controversial by some and the Pescanik team has been subjected to many threats and attacks. Also, their web portal is constantly attacked by hackers.
