Human Rights Defenders under attack

Late evening on March 24 the Russian-Chechen Friendship Society was attacked by two unknown persons who tried to set their office in Nizhny Novgorod on fire. Overall the situation for human rights defenders in the city has aggravated since the Duma elections in December 2011. In a letter to the Prosecutor General in Russia we express our serious concern over the recent attack against Russian-Chechen Friendship Society and against other human rights defenders in Russia and call for their protection.
