We demand increased protection of Human Rights Defenders in Central Asia

Human right defenders in Central Asia carry out a crucial function in exposing violations and holding leaders accountable despite the many dangers they face. In a statement Civil Rights Defenders, the International Partnership for Human Rights, the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee, the Moscow Helsinki Group, the Netherlands Helsinki Committee, the Norwegian Helsinki Committee and the Polish Foundation of Human Rights demand that the situation of the human rights defenders in Central Asia becomes a priority issue at the upcoming OSCE Summit in Astana.
