LGBT rights in Russia
Civil Rights Defenders and RFSL invite you to a seminar on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people’s rights in Russia
In 2010, LGBT organisations (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) were denied registration. Organisations and activists have been assaulted, which the police ignores. At the same time, the Queer Culture Festival in St. Petersburg in September 2010 was a great success and the visibility of LGBT persons in Russia increased. Civil Rights Defenders has cooperated with the Russian LGBT Network since 2008. The network is working to improve the situation for LGBT persons in Russia. During the seminar representatives from the network will describe the situation for LGBT persons in Russia and the work to strengthen human rights for LGBT persons.
Date: 12 January
Time: 15:30 to 16:30
Place: RFSL’s office in Svevägen 59, 3rd floor
After the seminar RFSL is arranging a reception at their office at 16:30 to 20:00 hours, where the participants will have a chance to mingle and eat some homemade soup.
Please RSVP by 10 January to firstname.lastname@example.org.
