25 April: Political prisoners in Belarus

In November 2011, Ales Bialiatski, human rights defender and chairman of the organisation Viasna, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for tax evasion. A sentence which was directly connected to his work for human rights. His colleague, Viasna’s vice chair, Valjantsin Stefanovitj, has been charged twice. Valjantsin Stefanovitj participates in a seminar about political prisoners in Belaus, which we organise in cooperation with Östgruppen on 25 april.
